My education didn't prepare me for a career in staging nearly as much as making 24 residential moves - 17 of them within 14 years! Having to fit my furnishings into so many different room configurations made me an expert at maximizing a room's potential.
Having to sell a home quickly, or find someone to sub-lease an apartment, taught me how to showcase a property to best advantage. I wanted my property to be the MOST desirable in the area and so I became an expert on seeing space through the buyer's eyes and making them want what I was selling (or renting).
As a stager I've redesigned countless homes. You can view the results of some of these projects in my portfolio.
As an artist I have worked in many mediums. I've created custom painting effects and fabric hangings for clients who wanted a special touch in their home.
As a landscape designer I created gardens that increase the beauty and value of a home. I've assisted home-sellers improve the curb appeal of their house with easy solutions to perk up their yard and increase the marketability of the property.
As an organizer I improved many clients' working conditions by transforming their space and creating uncluttered surfaces. Home offices can be functional and attractive no matter what size space is allotted for the purpose.
Designing and decorating commercial office space occupied the '90's for me. I worked with several corporations assisting them with space design, furniture selection, color selection, decoration and organization. I facilitated and managed moves to new locations for several businesses which included the Microsoft Technology Center at 77 W. Wacker Dr. in downtown Chicago, as well as several Microsoft branch locations throughout the Midwest Region. I received 5 different awards from Microsoft for my services during their expansion in the Midwest.
In addition to my Fine Arts major and Home Economics minor at Northern Illinois University, I studied Interior Design at College of DuPage. I was trained in china painting by European porcelain artist Frieda Meyers and have shown and sold hand painted china pieces throughout the Midwest.
Having completed the Accredited Staging Professional (ASP)™ training program developed by Barb Schwarz, creator of the Home Staging concept and president of StagedHomes.com , I received the ASP Stager designation™ , which is the only nationally recognized designation for Home Staging Professionals. I am a member of the International Association of Home Staging Professionals (IAHSP) .
I also completed the Interior Redesign training program approved by the Interior Redesign Industry S pecialists (IRIS) organization, and am a member of IRIS and the Midwest Redesign Association.
I trained in Horticulture and Landscape Design at College of DuPage and Morton Arboretum in Lisle, IL. This instruction provides the background for me to specialize in enhancing CURB APPEAL for client's homes - a critical element in making their home more desirable than others on the market.
